The University of Scranton men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were reinstated, but will remain on probation, as of Tuesday, according to the school’s student run newspaper, The Aquinas.
On February 10, the teams were suspended due to alleged violations of Title IX and “The University’s hazing, sexual harassment and sexual misconduct and alcohol policies.” Consequently, the team’s season ended abruptly, as the squad was not allowed to compete in the Landmark Conference Championship at the end of that week.
Tuesday night the team’s suspension was lifted, in a meeting where the swimmers and divers saw their coaches for the first time since February.
In an email to the community on Wednesday, the University announced the conclusion of its investigation, and said that, “In accordance with the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA), the University cannot and will not discuss the status or outcomes of conduct cases for individual students.”
