Caeleb Dressel shared the story of his first race in USA Swimming’s video series introducing the 2016 US Olympic Team.
The Florida Gator talked about his athletic career’s start in soccer, and now where he finds himself most calm at a swim meet: behind the blocks. He mentions the moment when he made the Olympic Team and the wonderful support network he has had behind him.
The newly minted Olympian heads to Rio in the 100 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay. In 2013 he won six medals at the FINA World Junior Championships. The 19 year old has also had incredible success in yards, at the NCAA level. Dressel holds the short course American records in the 50 and 100 freestyles.
