The 19th ranked Bears of Ursinus College beat the 23rd ranked Washington College women 164 to 93 Saturday afternoon. Ursinus got off to a quick start sweeping the 400 medley relay. The team of Peyton Lyons, Olivia Tierney, Clara Baker, and Corinne Capodanno touched first (4:01.80).
Ursinus won most of the rest of the afternoon’s events as well. Capodanno won a close 200 freestyle with her time of 1:57.12. Later in the meet, she also claimed the 500 freestyle (5:14.67). Her teammate Lyons stopped the clock at 1:00.01 to win the 100 backstroke and went on to win the 200 backstroke (2:10.40). Tierney was first to the wall in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.75) and the 200 breaststroke (2:30.25). Her teammate Katherine Porter was the winner of the 200 butterfly (2:12.86). Baker sprinted to a win in the 50 freestyle (25.44) and the 100 butterfly (58.30). In the 100 freestyle, Syndey Gundersen touched the wall at 54.35, to win by nearly two seconds.
Washington College won three events on the afternoon. Julia Portman topped the 1000 freestyle (11:08.85). After Ursinus went exhibition, Washington junior Ellen Maxwell claimed the 200 IM win (2:22.41). The team of Portman, Katie Gorman, Mackenzie Gaze, and Jenni Clune won the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.99).
