The Week Ahead in NCAA D2

By Delaney Lanker, Swimming World College Intern

While it is a down week for many of the top D2 teams this weekend, there still looks to be some exciting and challenging competition to come later this week. Bloomsburg has risen on the men’s side from 21st to 14th and from 20th to 14th on the women’s. As well as Florida Tech’s men coming up from 25th to 12th and Indianapolis’ women making their way into the 25, ranked 20th.

The number 14 ranked Huskies for men’s and women’s will face Gannon and Indiana (PA) at the Crimson Hawk Invitational this weekend. Bloomsburg holds top times in most of the freestyle events but in the 50, Meghan Gallagher (23.78) will have Gannon’s Morgan Lydic (23.88) and Emily Nottingham (23.90) on her toes. Gannon also has the top butterfly and IM times going into this weekend.

On the other hand, on the men’s side of things, Indiana hold most of the top times in the freestyle events and Bloomsburg looks to take most of the stroke events. The medley relays should be tight between the two teams as well. The Huskies with a 1:30.98 and the Crimson Hawks going in with a 1:31.73 in the 200 medley relay.
