TCU travelled to North Texas University on Friday January 29 for a non-conference dual meet, but fell in a close meet 180-120. A slew of second place finishes kept the Horned Frogs in the mix of things for the meet, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough to get past North Texas.
The Horned Frogs started the meet off with a strong second place in the 200 medley relay. A team of Madison Ibrahim, Devin Newton, Micaela Roemer, and Bryn Lohrberg touched with a solid time of 1:46.44. The freshman Victoria Barczyk also grabbed a second place with her 10:26.32 in the 1000 free. Senior Mikayla Winkler and freshman Catherine Maxey were second and third in the 200 free, going 1:53.23 and 1:54.96, respectively. TCU’s highest finish in the 100 back was fourth by the freshman Ibrahim (58.51).
Sophomore Devon Newton grabbed second place in the 100 breast (1:05.04), while senior Catherine Rash was also second in the 200 fly (2:06.89). Freshmen Roemer and Lohrberg went 2-3 in the 50 free with times of 24.31 and 24.57 respectively. Senior diver Kristen Connolly was first on the 1-meter board (298.95), as well as the 3-meter (279.67). Winkler and Lohrberg were 4-5 in the 100 free, with times of 52.87 and 53.44. Ibrahim grabbed another fourth place with her 2:06.68 in the 200 back.
