The Carmel High School girls’ swimming and diving team won their 30th straight Indiana state championship this season on their way to becoming Swimming World Magazine’s girls’ national high school champions for the fifth time in the last six years.
Coach Chris Plumb talked to Swimming World, explaining that “the team’s culture is just so strong right now. They’re willing to put in the work, come together for a cause bigger than themselves, and do it all with class.”
Looking ahead to next year, Plumb remains optimistic: “Claire Adams and Veronica Burchill are going to be difficult to replace. However, I am confident our team will meet the challenge. Sammie Burchill (Veronica’s younger sister who placed third in the 200 IM in 1:57.99) and Emma Nordin (seventh in the 200 free, 1:46.03) will lead next year’s team. Both understand the effort it takes to lead the charge.â€
