After Texas dominated last year’s men’s NCAAs with a 129-point margin of victory, Swimming World Magazine ran the following headline in its May issue: “Too Easy.†This year’s meet proved to be even easier for Texas, as the Longhorns won by nearly 200 points, giving Coach Eddie Reese his 12th team championship and making him the winningest NCAA Division I coach in men’s swimming and diving history.
With records in 10 of the 18 events at the Division I NCAA Championships being broken, it was of little surprise that four of the six individual record setters were from the University of Texas. Authors David Rieder and Mike Stott shed light on some of these key figures from this year’s NCAA Championships with features on freshman standout Townley Haas, Texas’ head coach Eddie Reese, and the Bolles School Reunion of Caeleb Dressel, Joseph Schooling, and Ryan Murphy.
