When people dare to dream–and look beyond what is known and what is…to what is unknown and what could be–they can change the world. They know that for something to improve something needs to change.
In this edition of Goldminds, author Wayne Goldsmith tackles the notion of barriers, posing the question “what if?” “What If?” swimmers weren’t specialized until they became college-level athletes? “What If” we encouraged teenagers to play multiple sports so as to avoid early burnout and dropout? “What If” all swimmers trained all strokes and all distances?
Goldsmith explores these questions and more so as to avoid the “barriers” that individuals feel they can’t move past. As the history of swimming has shown barriers are meant to be broken and by tackling the “what if’s” they [barriers] can continue to be broken.
