St Thomas Men and Women Win MIAC Championship

The University of St. Thomas swept the women’s and men’s MIAC Championship highlighted by wins in the 400 free relays. On the women’s side, the team of Alex Howard (54.21) Emma Paulson (49.09) Kate Smarjesse (52.57) and Katelyn Strauss (52.15) won in a time of 3:28.02 just out touching Gustavus who was second in 3:28.47. St. Olaf was third in 3:31.49. On the men’s side, St. Thomas’s team of Luke Schneeman (46.76) Bailey Biwer (46.41) Warren Melton (46.41) and Michael Lanz (44.92) won in a time of 3:03.76. Carleton was second in 3:04.09, while St. John’s was third in 3:06.64.

In the 1650, Linnea Rizzo of Gustavus won the event in 17:43.27, out touching teammate Sydney Hallmark who was second in 17:46.36. Ann Herkenhoff of the Cobbers was third in 17:47.98.
