Night seven of Rio Olympic swimming featured four back to back finals, and one semifinal.
Maya DiRado got the night off to an exciting start. In the final five yards of the women’s 200 backstroke, the American upset Katinka Hosszu‘s bid for four individual gold medals, getting to the wall .06 seconds ahead of the Hungarian.
Joseph Schooling got out to a quick start in the men’s 100 butterfly. He held off Michael Phelps to earn the first swimming medal for Singapore. Phelps was a part of a historic three way tie for silver with Chad le Clos and Laszlo Cseh.
