Brandonn Almeida has given his verbal commitment to the University of South Carolina. Almeida is from Brazil. He represented the host nation at the 2016 Olympic Games, where he finished 15th in the 400 IM and 29th in the 1500 freestyle.
He will bring a resume of international success with him to Columbia in the fall. At the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships, he won the 1500 freestyle and took home a 400 IM silver. At the 2015 Pan American Games Almeida won the 400 IM in junior world record time.
