The 3A South Carolina state championships turned out to be the closest South Carolina public school championships of the weekend as the men’s title was decided by fewer than 40 points. In the end, Bishop England secured 401 points followed by Academic Magnet in 374 and May River with 335. On the girls side, Academic Magnet won with 486 while Bishop England totaled 401 and Christ Church Episcopal was third with 335.5.
Twins Maddie and Sydney Baker combined with Diana Geary and Kailee Morgan (1:51.91) to win the 200 medley relay for Christ Church Episcopal School. Anna Patterson, Caden Hoxworth, Ally Patterson, and Jessica Trayhan (1:54.57) finished second for Greenville Tech Charter. Academic Magnet’s Madeline McQuillan, Julia Zimlich, Emma Ludman, and Simone Kavarana (1:57.06) finished third.
Academic Magnet rose to the top of the podium in the 200 freestyle relay with the team of Campbell Babb, Skyler Ayers, Malia Borg, and Ali DeLambo. Bishop England (1:47.66) was second in the event with Adesuwa Emovon, Megan Dukes, Alex Wojtech, and Emma Pizzo. Rounding out the podium was May River’s Alondra Janicek, Alora Orr, Yael Echeverria, Kaitlyn Pangilinan (1:48.45).
