NC State’s Simonas Bilis moved up to 12th all time in the men’s 100-yard freestyle during prelims at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.
Bilis put up a time of 41.59 to lead prelims. Â He’s looking to become the first individual champion for NC State since Olympic gold medalist Cullen Jones won the 50 free in 2006.
Bilis will have his hands full in finals as Florida’s Caeleb Dressel cruised to the second seed in 41.73. Â Dressel set the American record in the 100 free just last month with a 41.07.
