Georgia Tech travelled to Tuscaloosa to race against Alabama on Saturday. The Alabama women defeated Georgia Tech 191-106, while the men beat the Yellow Jackets 199-99.
The meet began with Georgia Tech’s Maddie Paschal, Florina Ilie, Laura Branton, and Iris Wang winning the 200 medley relay in 1:44.19 to Alabama’s 1:44.23. Wang later took second in both the 50 free (23.67) and 100 free (50.58). Chiara Ruiu placed second in the 200 free (1:51.75) and third in the 400 IM (4:28.24), while Alex Rieger (2:03.66) and Sara Gilbert (2:04.72) went 2-3, respectively, in the 200 back. Diver Shannon Lumbra swept both diving events, winning the 1m (290.90) and the 3m (293.60).
The men’s meet started with Brian Woodbury, Moises Loschi, Ben Southern, and Youssef Hammoud placing third in the 200 medley relay (1:31.02). Southern later won the 200 fly (1:47.62) and took third in the 100 fly (49.15), while Loschi also won the 200 breast (2:00.31) and placed second in the 400 IM (4:00.42). Yuval Safra claimed first in the 1000 free (9:22.17), and diver Matt Casillas placed second in the 3m (341.15).
