Queens’ Dion Dreesens dropped nearly four seconds from his record-breaking prelims swim to win the men’s 500-yard free at the 2016 NCAA Division II Championships in 4:17.09. The junior’s time crushed his own DII record of 4:20.70 he set earlier this morning. This is his third individual win of the meet after taking the title in the 1000 and 200 free. His 200 free was also a DII record.
West Chester’s Victor Polyakov dropped over four seconds from this morning to take second in 4:20.33. Simon Fraser’s Adrian VanderHelm finished third in 4:21.04.
Queens’ Nick Arakelian (4:22.34), Simon Fraser’s Mackenzie Hamill (4:24.39), Saint Leo’s Daniel Bis (4:26.05), Missouri S&T’s Jon Glaser (4:26.32), and Indy’s Vitor Botana (4:27.00) completed the top eight.
