Following up her win in the 400 free, Katie Ledecky qualified for her second individual event for Rio in the 200 free. Her time of 1:54.88 is just off her world-leading time of 1:54.43.
Ledecky finished over one second ahead of runner-up Missy Franklin. She said she’s good friends with all of the girls who swam in her heat and is looking forward to a fun and fast 4×200 free relay.
Her win tonight is one step closer to a potentially historic schedule in August, and she said she’s excited that her event schedule will be much busier this year than it was four years ago when she won gold in the 800 free in London.
Ledecky is also entered in the 50, 100, and 800 freestyle events in Omaha and said she is taking it one event at a time.
