After two days of fast swimming, action came to a stop this morning at the Speedo Sectionals in Columbus, Ohio.
According to host Ohio State Swim Club’s website, “McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion and a number of other buildings on campus” were without power this morning. While initial plans involved starting the meet up later this afternoon, that plan was abandoned as getting the facility up and running again took longer than hoped.
The remainder of today’s events (including a reswim of one heat of the men’s 400 freestyle) will take place as timed finals tomorrow morning. Events that were scheduled for tomorrow will now take place in a timed finals session tomorrow evening.
Most swimmers were certainly hoping for two opportunities to race, as this is a season ending meet for some swimmers. For others, it is the final chance to qualify for Futures, Junior Nationals, and US Open.
