One hour before the second night of finals at the Olympics in Rio, the lineups came out for the 400 free relay. The United States will go with a team of Caeleb Dressel, Michael Phelps, Ryan Held and Nathan Adrian. Held beat out the three other men who swam on the U.S. prelims relay to earn a spot in the final with the two American qualifiers in the individual 100 free as well as Phelps, who’s making his Rio Olympics debut.
The top seeded Russians will go with Andrey Grechin, Danila Izotov, Vladimir Morozov and Alexander Sukhurukov. All but Morozov swam in the morning heats.
Australia will go with James Roberts, Kyle Chalmers and James Magnussen in front of 100 free world leader Cameron McEvoy.
The French will seek to repeat their gold medal from lane six, and they have Mehdy Metella, Fabien Gilot, Florent Manaudou and Jeremy Stravius going for them. This will be the third straight Olympics Gilot has appeared on France’s relay, winning a silver in 2008 and gold in 2012.
