Lindenwood’s Serghei Golban had a fast start and strong underwaters to win the men’s 50-yard free in 19.35 at the 2016 NCAA Division II Championships, setting a new DII record. The sophomore broke the previous record of 19.39 by .04 set by Andrey Seryy back in 2011.
Drury’s Daniel Rzadkowski finished second in 19.67 and Saint Leo’s Matheus Assis (19.71) took third in 19.71.
Tampa’s Martin Hammer (19.72), Nova Southeastern’s Thiago Sickert (19.80), Drury’s Rodrigo Caceres (19.83), Queens’ Zack Phelps (19.93), and Queens’ Ben Mayes (20.15) completed the top eight.
