Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell was named the 2015-16 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year while Virginia Tech’s Brandon Fiala earned the honor for the men. In the ACC’s release today, 51 women and 49 men were named to the 2015-2016 All-ACC Academic Swimming and Diving Teams.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) — Louisville senior Kelsi Worrell has been named the 2015-16 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year and headlines the All-ACC Academic Women’s Swimming & Diving Team, as announced today.
An exercise science major from Mt. Holly, New Jersey, Worrell captured two individual national championships in the 100 fly and 200 fly at the 2016 NCAA Championships, as she set the American and NCAA records with her 100 fly swim. She also earned All-America honors in the 50 freestyle, and the 200 and 400 medley relays. At the ACC Championships, Worrell was named the Championship Most Valuable Swimmer after she won five medals – including four gold – and set four records in the process.
After the season concluded, Worrell was named the Honda Sport Award winner for swimming and diving and the ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Year.
