Katinka Hosszu, a day after crushing the 200 IM, won the women’s 200-meter free and failed to podium in anything else on day three of the 2016 FFN Golden Tour.
Hosszu, who has made a brand of swimming a lot of events at meets and winning them, had a bit of a hiccup from her typical event setup this weekend. Â Hosszu usually comes into a sparsely-contested meet like this and runs off 10 wins.
She started off fairly well with four wins on distance day one, winning the 800 and 1500 free as well as the 400 IM and the 50 back against very small fields. Â Day two, she still managed to blaze her way through the 200 IM with a January-best time, but wound up scratching from several events in order to do so.
Today, Hosszu clocked a 1:56.31 for the win in the women’s 200-meter free.  That’s about a second off her top time last year of 1:55.41 that ranked her fifth in the world.  Charlotte Bonnet took second in 1:57.73 with Coralie Balmy earning third in 1:57.75.
