Rice captured the Phill Hansel Invitational title in Houston, Texas. The meet consisted of ten women’s teams.
Kaitlyn Swinney had a strong meet for the Rice Owls. The sophomore racked up 91 points. Swinney’s weekend was highlighted by a win in the 400-yard individual medley. She finished with a time of 4:17.38. She also picked up fourth place finishes in both the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley. Â
Jaecey Parham of Rice also scored 91 points over the weekend. Parham, also a sophomore, won the 200-yard individual medley. She finished with a time of 2:02.67. She was also on the Owls’ winning 400-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relay teams.
Tulane finished second at the meet. Oddly enough, the Green Wave also had a swimmer, Mia Shachter, finish with 91 points. The senior was victorious in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. She posted a 49.98 in the 100-yard event and a 22.93 in the 50-yard sprint.
