Texas’ Joseph Schooling, who admitted he wasn’t feeling the best heading into the race, broke the NCAA and U.S. Open record in the men’s 100-yard fly at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.
Schooling unloaded a blistering time of 44.01 to defend his NCAA title. Â He won with a 44.51 last year that is the fourth-fastest time ever.
Schooling’s 44.01 blasted the NCAA and U.S. Open record of 44.18 set by Stanford’s Austin Staab back in 2009.
