It’s not quite the amazing six A finalists like last year, but Texas went two up, two down as Joseph Schooling led men’s 100-yard fly qualifying at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.

Schooling posted the 10th-fastest time ever in the event with a 44.68. That’s just half-a-second off Austin Staab’s 2009 NCAA record of 44.18 set for Stanford.

Schooling, the defending champion in the event with a 44.51 from last year, could become yet another two-time winner in the event.  The sophomore also could keep himself in play to join Texas’ Ian Crocker, Stanford’s Pablo Morales and Indiana’s Mark Spitz for a career 100 fly sweep.
