Jessica Ashwood just missed her own Australian record in the women’s 800-meter free at the 2016 Australian Nationals.
Ashwood won the finale in a time of 8:18.42, just off her 8:18.41 from last August. Â The only swimmer faster than her this year is Katie Ledecky with a stunning 8:06.68 at the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.
Tamsin Cook finished second tonight in 8:27.01, just off the Australian Olympic qualifying cut of 8:26.96.
