Jeremy Stravius clinched another Olympic swim with a 51.66 in the men’s 100-meter fly at the 2016 French Open Championships.
That swim shot him to third in the world behind only Konrad Czerniak (51.31) and Laszlo Cseh (51.40). Â Stravius already won the 100 free (47.97) and 200 free (1:46.18) earlier this week.
Mehdy Metella also claimed a spot on the Olympic roster in the event, according to the FFN, with a second-place 51.84. Â That swim put him fourth in the world behind Stravius. Â Michael Phelps (51.94) and Li Zhuhao (51.97) are the only other swimmers under 52 seconds. Â Joeri Verlinden placed third in 52.57.
Camille Gheorghiu raced her way to a spot on the French Olympic team in the women’s 200-meter back with a 2:12.14. The French Swimming Federation confirmed the berth on Twitter shortly after the race. Â Fantine Lesaffre placed second in 2:14.01 with Pauline Mahieu earning third in 2:14.97.
