The 2016 Pennsylvania High School State Championships concluded this evening. The men’s and women’s 100 free, 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast an 400 free relay were swam. The men’s 500 free and 400 free PIAA records were broken. La Salle College won the meet for the men and North Penn won for the women.
Yesterday’s 200 free winner, Michael Jensen of Upper Dublin, also won the 100 free today in the time of 42.69. Finishing in a 44.46 for the silver was La Salle’s Greg Brocato and in a close third place was Mason Gonzalez of North Allegheny with a 44.52.
In the men’s 500 free, La Salle senior Jake Sannem won the event in the time of 4:19.64. This crushed the previous PIAA record of 2:22.21 set in 2009. His teammate Joseph Pizza came in second place with a 4:27.05 and on his toes was North Allegheny’s Eban Krigger with a 4:27.96 for bronze.
