At a recent meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the Community Beach Redevelopment Advisory Board determined that they would use the remaining funds in the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) to refurbish and replace the existing pools at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex. The construction would ensure that all pools on location are FINA compliant facilities.
The facility will feature two 50-meter pools and a diving well. One of the two pools will be refurbished, while the second will be newly constructed and feature an adjustable bulkhead. The diving well will also be newly constructed to meet new code requirements. Swimming World’s sources confirmed that the competition pool will have adequate seating for 1500 spectators and an additional 500 seats will be available at the diving well.
The new footprint, however, may encroach on the property now housing ISHOF, including the historic statue that greets all visitors.
