MIAMI (Oct. 31, 2016) – FIU Executive Director of Sports and Entertainment Pete Garcia announced on Monday the contract extension of FIU Swimming and Diving Coach Randy Horner through 2020. Horner has been at the helm of FIU Swimming and Diving since 2010.
“Randy Horner has done a tremendous job leading our swimming and diving program,†Garcia said. “What our student-athletes have accomplished in the pool, in the classroom and in the community, is outstanding. We are thrilled that FIU swimming and diving will continue to be under the guidance of Coach Horner.â€
“It’s nice to feel appreciated and wanted,†Horner said. “Pete and Julie (Berg – Senior Associate AD/SWA) have shown me their commitment to the traditions we started here at FIU by extending my contract once again. I could not be happier.â€
Horner guided FIU to its second-straight conference title this past season, scoring the second-most points in Conference USA Championship history. The Panthers claimed 15 of the 21 total titles during the four-day championships en route to a 954-point result – the most-decisive victory in C-USA Championships history.
