A fire broke out in the office space location of the 2016 Rio Olympic Park earlier this week and authorities believe it might have been a case of arson by “disgruntled former workers” according to Inside the Games.
The fire was allegedly set near the “Olympic Tennis Centre on the Barra de Tijuca site, broke out in a shipping container holding construction supplies.”  Luckily, the fire only caused what is being reported as small damage to some office space and there were no reported injuries.
“The incident was quickly controlled and nobody was injured, the Rio 2016 Organising Committee was informed by the Rio City Government, which is project managing the park’s construction, and the on-site security teams,” a Rio 2016 statement said.
Reports state that the fire could be part of a widespread protest by workers who were laid off last month and have not yet received their final compensation.
