There was more fast swimming at the third and final day of the the Settecolli Trophy in Rome.
In the 200 freestyle Federica Pellegrini posted a meet record time of 1:54.55. That also moves her to second in the world this year, behind only Katie Ledecky. Michelle Coleman was second in 1:55.58 and Boglarka Kapas completed the podium with a 1:58.05.
Another meet record fell in the men’s 800 freestyle as Gabriele Detti touched in 7:43.06, well faster than the 7:49.10. He slightly improved his second place world ranking with that swim. Gregorio Paltrinieri, the current world leader finished second in 7:50.98. Third went to Marcelo Acosta in 8:00.14.
Laszlo Cseh went three for three on the weekend’s butterfly events with a 23.58 to win the 50.
