As a new year has begun, a full calendar of exciting swim events is waiting to take place. The 30th Annual Black History Invitational Swim Meet (BHISM) will take place February 12 – 14 at the Takoma Aquatic Center in northwest DC. Hosting 27 teams and 762 swimmers with 3,576 entries in 2015, the meet only expects to be larger and more successful this year.
“My favorite part of the meet is its inclusivity. We have swimmers as young as five and six all the way up to adults in their 30s and 40s,” meet director Robert Green said. ”
The level of competition ranges from novice to Junior National level swimmers and the atmosphere is always electric. This year is our 30th anniversary and we are anticipating more athletes than ever.”
