The second annual California high school state championships took place yesterday and today in Clovis. While a number of top swimmers did not attend the meet, in favor of turning their attention towards the long course season, a number of meet records did fall.
Crean Lutheran claimed the women’s team title with 147 points, not far ahead of Palo Alto with 135. Ayala earned 129 points for third, just edging out Martin Luther King with 128.
Palo Alto’s Zoe Lusk, Grace Zhao, Katie Francis, and Claire Lin started the meet off with a win in the girls 200 medley relay, touching in 1:42.41. In second was Granite Bay’s Chloe Clark, Isabella Sangraw, Heaven Quintana, and Kassidy Henson in 1:43.84. Monte Vista’s Gillian Flath, Zoie Hartman, Makenna Turner, and Isabella Barattolo completed the podium in 1:44.04.
