It wasn’t as dominating as it was two weeks ago, but the Carmel Greyhounds defended their Indiana boys high school state title. With the computer system and meet mobile down after the 500, many teams had no idea what the scores were. Three teams were separated by five points heading into the 400 free relay. Chaos had ensued throughout the back half of the meet, but Carmel ended up squeaking out a one point lead over second place Zionsville, 216-215.
Carmel had two wins on the day with Senior Troy Li in the 200 free and Junior Charles Vaughan in the 200 IM. Li went 1:38.59 to win the state title in a field with six other seniors and a freshman. Jackson Sandala of Warren Central was second at 1:39.26 and freshman Jacob Destrampe of Franklin Community was third at 1:39.81. Li will be heading to Brown next year.
