Florida’s Caeleb Dressel lit up prelims with the second-fastest 50-yard free of all time, while NC State led the way in the men’s 200-yard free relay qualifying at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.
NC State’s Simonas Bilis (18.76), Ryan Held (18.65), Joe Bonk (19.45) and Andreas Schiellerup (18.89) raced their way to the top seed in 1:15.75. Â Bilis moved up to ninth all time in the men’s 50 free with that leadoff.
NC State is looking to win its first NCAA relay title in team history. Â The team has some time to drop, however, to break the NCAA record of 1:14.08 set by Auburn during the techsuit-fueled 2009 NCAA Championships.
