Yesterday it was announced that Australian diver Brittany Broben would be unable to compete in Rio due to a shoulder injury sustained at Olympic Trials. To replace her in the platform spot that the Australian team earned, Australian diving selected Brittany O’Brien. Broben has been approved by FINA and Rio2016.
The 18 year old will now head to Brazil as the youngest member of the Australian team. Platform diving does not begin until August 17, a week and a half into the Games, giving O’Brien enough time to get settled.
