Saturday afternoon Bates, Bowdoin, St. Joseph’s, and the University of New England swam in non-scoring action at The Maine Event. Some of Bates’ quick swims bode well for next weekend’s NESCAC Women’s Championship.
The Bates women were dominant, winning the majority of the events. The team of Emma Lammers, Mandy Mele, Catherine Mullen, and Whitney Paine set the tone, posting the top time in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.21). Teammate Logan Hope was first to the wall in the 200 IM (2:10.90). In the 100 breaststroke Kirsty Prelgovisk touched first (1:07.08), and teammate Sara Daher was just behind (1:07.29).
Bates teammates were also the top two finishers in the 200 backstroke. Lammers (2:16.22) was first and Nell Houde (2:18.70) was second. Logan McGill was impressive in the 100 freestyle, stopping the clock at 53.31. Lindsey Prelgovisk posted an impressive 1:53.87 in the 200 freestyle. Lucy Faust won the 100 butterfly (59.68). In the 100 backstroke, Houde was first to the wall (1:06.03). The Bobcat also touched first in the 50 freestyle (27.56). Paine made the most of a time trial and her final swim at home, breaking the pool record in the 100 backstroke (57.29).
