TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In the first meet of the NCAA season, the Alabama swimming and diving teams came away with dominating wins over Delta State. The Crimson Tide men tallied a 211-83 win, while the Alabama women beat DSU, 212-82.
“We had a good day,” UA head coach Dennis Pursley said. “I haven’t had a chance to go over all the results, but I feel like we were ahead of where were at this meet a year ago, so I was real excited about that. I was also pleased with the team spirit, the way the teams came together and supported each other with fire and energy.”
Senior Caroline Korst, sophomore Justine Macfarlane and juniors Hannah Musser and Bailey Scott combined to open the season with a win in the 400 medley relay, touching the wall with a 3:47.42. Seniors Connor Oslin and Anton McKee joined juniors Luke Kaliszak and Christopher Reid to get the men off to a quick start, winning the 400 medley relay with a 3:17.09.
The Crimson Tide closed out the meet by touching first in both the women’s and men’s 400 freestyle relays. Junior Temarie Tomley, sophomore Morgan Fleming, Musser and Scott won the women’s race with a time of 3:25.01 while sophomores Laurent Bams and Robert Howard, senior Alex Gray and sophomore Knox Auerbach touched at 2:58.77 to win the men’s relay.
